NET stands for National Eligibility Test is a national level examination conducted with an aim to scrutinize and evaluate the candidates in terms of their knowledge and skills required by them in order to handle positions like Lecturer, Professor, Associate or Research Fellows at various Indian colleges and universities. The examination of NET is conducted by CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) on behalf of UGC (University Grants Commission).

Age

• For Junior Research Fellowship upper age limit is 28 years
• For OBC/SC / ST candidates 5 years of relaxation in the upper age limit is approved
• Candidates with LLM degree can get 3 years of age relaxation
• Candidates with research experience will also be granted age relaxation
• No upper age limit for Assistant Professor

Education

• The candidate should have a Master’s Degree with 55% of marks from any recognized university (50% for SC, ST and OBC)
• 5%relaxation of marks will be granted to the candidates whose PhD was finished by 19th Sep 1992
